What I’m listening to- The ABC Playlist: 3/4/13

I’m a big fan of Spotify. This is a so-called “celestial jukebox” service; a music player where most any album, song, and artist may be found and heard for free, or for a nominal fee. If you choose to stream the music for free, you listen to ads. If you pay the modest $9.99 per month, you have access to Spotify’s vast music library ad free, and can enjoy the service on your mobile devices. Read the rest of this entry »

Beer Week 2013- Round Three- Stoudts Double IPA

Stoudt's Brewing Company Double IPA

There is a lot of myth surrounding the India Pale Ale. The common story (the one I’ve always heard) goes a little like this: “Colonial India was thirsty for English beers in the late 18th century, but the rough six month voyage by sea from England to India was enough to spoil regular beers. Even hearty porters could not survive the grueling trip. Read the rest of this entry »

I Hate Albert Einstein

Manhattan Projects #4 Page 12
So you think you know the history of the Atomic Bomb? Jonathan Hickman begs to differ. The Manhattan Projects tells the secret history of America’s nuclear program; a history complete with cyborg Nazis, alien genocide, and Imperial Japanese Kamikaze Robots. Read the rest of this entry »

Terrapin’s Taste of the Far East

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Samurai Krunkles , but I was delighted by this ale brewed with ginger and green tea. This unusual IPA (India Pale Ale) is brewed by the mad geniuses at Terrapin brewery in Athens, GA. I bought my 750 ml bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando Florida. It’s 7.1% A.B.V. Album Review: Foxygen- We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic

Foxygen makes me miss a 1960’s neither I nor they ever knew. Sam France and Jonathan Rado have created a wild genre bending musical tour of the ’60’s and I can’t get enough of it. It seems like they channel the vibe of Psychedelia through a post-punk sensibility that sounds like the Kinks dropping acid. Read the rest of this entry »

John Prophet In The 1,021st Century

Prophet: Remission- Image Comics
Quickly! Tell me anything you know about obscure ’90’s Image Comic character Prophet. If you answered “Steroids-fueled, mullet-wearing, sword-guy with boxing headgear,” you’d have summed up my entire knowledge on the subject before I read the first volume of Image’s relaunch of the title.
